Buttons the Deer had a rough start when her mother sadly died in a car accident. She was rescued by the Brown family and formed an amazing friendship with G-Bro, a golden retriever.
She was released back to the forest, but she kept coming back to his rescuer family.
Growing Up Side by Side

Buttons loves her freedom in the woods, but she always remembers the care and safety she felt with the Browns and G-Bro.
Every spring, she even comes back with her baby deer to the place near the family’s home.
“She will literally leave her babies in our yard, and she will go off and graze. And G-bro then just kind of takes care of them,” said Lorie Brown.
Visiting with Babies

It’s really something special to see Buttons let G-Bro come close and care for her babies. She trusts him in a way she doesn’t trust other dogs.
G-Bro is very gentle with the baby deer, cleaning them with licks and playing softly.
“He totally thinks he’s a daddy deer,” Lorie explained, describing G-Bro’s role as a father figure to Buttons’ babies.
11 Years Walking the Trails Together

Buttons is part of the deer world, but she also seems to think of G-Bro and the Browns as her family.
Their 11 years together aren’t just spent looking after the babies. They also enjoy exploring the woods and walking the trails together.
They love playing in the snow, jumping around, and having a great time.
Nurture Across Nature

Buttons and G-bro’s amazing friendship shows us how different kinds of living things can care for each other.
It encourages us to care for our friends and family, whether they’re humans, pets, or animals that live outdoors.
It reminds us that nature’s beauty has space for every kind of love and surprise.
