Sometimes, the best friendships are the ones you least expect, like the surprising bond between a man and a nutria, a type of big, water-loving rodent.
When Nuety the nutria was found lost and alone on the streets, a kind-hearted man named Denny Lacoste took him in and gave him a second chance at life.
Making a Home for Nuety
“Right after my husband picked up Nuety, we looked up everything he might need,” Myra, Denny’s wife, said.
The couple created a comfortable living space for Nuety, equipped with a towel bed, lots of wood for chewing, and a plush dog bed he immediately loved.
Something Special Between Them
“As soon as he sees my husband, Nuety is immediately running to him. He does not treat anybody else like that.” Myra said, explaining how close Nuety is to Denny.
Nuety and Denny also have their own way of talking to each other.
Denny asks Nuety questions, like if he’s ready for the day, and Nuety answers back with his own sweet sounds.
“He just stares at him with love,” Myra added, emphasizing Nuety really trusts and loves his rescuer.
Playful and Happy
Bringing Nuety in from the streets has made the couple’s life brighter.
Nuety was full of energy and showed off his playful attitude, getting wiggly and eager to play.
He plays in the bathtub, sneaks off dog toys, and enjoys his own dog bed.
At night, he would sleep in the bathroom so he could be near the family.
Laughter and Love
Nuety and his rescuer show us that the best friendships might be the most unexpected ones.
Nuety’s zest for life and playful character make him more than a pet. He’s living proof that helping others brings joy and creates strong bonds.
