After spending a tough month stuck inside a wall, Wally, a loyal dog, has been rescued and is now healing from the ordeal.
His incredible will to survive has inspired animal lovers, and he’s ready to start a new life with a caring family that will love him forever.
Discovery and Rescue
Wally’s story began in a sad way: He was left behind by his owners, who were moving out of their place in Cavite, Philippines.
During some building work, he got trapped inside a wall and couldn’t get out.
He managed to stay alive by drinking water from a drain while his cries for help were barely heard through the thick wall.
It took a whole month before the people moving into the apartment heard his weak barking.
They called the local authorities, who came and broke down the wall to set Wally free. He was skinny and hurt but finally out of his prison.
Recovery
Right after his rescue, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia team took Wally to get the care he needed.
As he got better, he started showing his playful and loving nature, ready for a new home where he’d be properly cared for.
The Importance of Commitment
Jason Baker, Senior Vice President of PETA, spoke about Wally’s tough experience:
“This poor dog not only endured the heartbreak and confusion of being left behind by his family but also spent weeks trapped behind a wall, barking desperately for help and struggling to escape.”
He urged people always to help animals in trouble or to find someone who can.
PETA pointed out that adopting an animal is a serious promise that will last their whole lives.
They reminded everyone that pets are part of the family and stressed the importance of spaying or neutering them to prevent too many homeless animals like Wally.
A Call to Action
Wally’s story is not just about one dog who got lucky. It’s a call to remember all the animals who are left alone and face dangers every day.
His strength and the help he received show how much of a difference we can make in the lives of animals in need.
Now Wally is enjoying the care and warmth from the people at PETA and is looking for a permanent home where he’ll be loved truly.
His story of survival and hope is a powerful reminder of the deep bond that can form between humans and animals and the huge impact we can have by extending a helping hand.
