When Emily Bott and Dylan Loewke bought an old farmhouse to start a new chapter, they didn’t realize they were also gaining a big, furry family.
They arrived to find 16 friendly cats already there, who soon became a beloved part of their home life.
A Home Full of Cats

The couple was surprised the house came with cats.
They thought there might be a few, but 16 was more than what they expected!
Emily nicknamed them “barn lions” and felt responsible for looking after them.
Creating a Cat Paradise

Emily and Dylan worked hard to make their new home a warm place for the cats.
They built a special room with everything a cat could want: heaters, toys, and lots of treats.
They also made sure all the cats were healthy and spayed/neutered.
Instant Cat Parents

It wasn’t just about providing their basic needs; the couple also made an effort to earn the cats’ trust.
Bott said that Valencia is the only friendly cat among them. But soon, after months (and some years), the other cats started approaching and letting them pet them.
“I spent many nights sitting in my driveway throwing treats at them, feeding them catnip and engaging them with toys,” Bott said.
Sharing Their Story
They started to share their life with the cats online, and people fell in love with the story.
The newfound fame came as a surprise, and they were thankful for the support.
Emily’s Instagram and TikTok followers grew as she posted about their daily lives.
Making the World a Kinder Place
The couple hopes to expand their home into a larger sanctuary for animals in need one day. But for now, they enjoy each day with their loving cats.
Their story shows us that when we help animals, we’re not just improving their lives—we’re also adding more joy and love to our own lives, and together, we’re making the world a nicer place for everyone.
