Service dog Samson had always been serious about his job, but he never really learned how to have fun—until a playful little kitten named Cleo came into his life.
Samson’s Challenge with Having Fun
At the dog park, you could spot Samson sticking to himself, watching the other dogs play.
Being a service dog is an important job, and Samson took it so seriously that he didn’t know how to relax and play like a regular dog.
But everything changed when Cleo, a lively little kitten, was brought home.
The Day Samson and Cleo Met
Lea, Samson’s human mom, thought he might loosen up if he had a cat friend.
The idea came up when Samson met a kitten on a trip and was surprisingly eager to play.
True enough, when Cleo arrived at her new home a few months later, Samson couldn’t hide his excitement.
He was jumping around and wagging his tail like never before.
Samson and Cleo Become Best Buds
The two of them quickly became close, staying together whether they were inside or on new outdoor adventures.
They bathe, eat, play, and exercise together.
“It was so heartwarming to see him just come out of his shell and immediately form that connection with Cleo,” Lea said.
Helping His Little Furry Friend
On a family hike, when Cleo got tired and started to slow down, meowing for a break, Samson did something amazing.
He carried Cleo on his back for the rest of the hike.
From then on, whenever Cleo needed a lift, Samson was there for her.
The Transformative Power of Friendship
Samson and Cleo show us that friends come in all sizes. Their friendship proves that anyone can be pals, no matter how different they are.
“Samson is a huge dog, and Cleo is a tiny, tiny kitten. So, it really shows that friendship doesn’t have any bounds. Anybody can be friends,” Lea said.
Thanks to Cleo, Samson began exploring the world in a new way and finally learned how to play and enjoy life.
