Animal Tracks Sanctuary is home to the heartwarming story of two little foxes with huge ears and even larger personalities.
Meet Winky, a fennec fox whose smile is as infectious as her laugh, and her playmate, Dobby, who make up an endearing duo together.

Winky’s New Chapter
Winky’s beginnings were tough. She came from a breeder in Florida who hadn’t spent time with her, which made her too wild to keep as a pet.
Fortunately, she was given to Animal Tracks, where Allison, the sanctuary’s director, welcomed her with warmth and care.
Trust Takes Time
Allison dedicated many months to quietly gaining Winky’s trust. She would sit with her every day, still and calm, letting Winky approach her when she felt ready.
This patient approach eventually paid off, and Winky started to trust Allison.
Dobby’s Instant Bond
The sanctuary was already home to Dobby, a fox who quickly formed a close bond with Allison, as shown by the tattoo of him she proudly wears.
When Winky and Dobby met, they hit it off immediately, playing and scampering around as if they had always been friends.
Fun and Frolic
Allison describes their play sessions with excited squeaks to “28 squeak toys being squeaked simultaneously.”
Their tail-wagging is amusing. Their tails are so stiff, and it’s goofy and delightful.
Little Leader
Winky might be little, but she’s definitely in charge. She often climbs on Dobby as if to show she’s the boss.
Allison jokingly says that if Winky were human, she’d be out having a great time and living boldly.
Sanctuary Living
Fennec foxes, like Winky and Dobby, are desert animals with large ears that help them hear food hidden underground.
At Animal Tracks, they are well taken care of, with plenty of water and all they need to thrive.
A Bond Like No Other
Winky is still cautious around new people, but with Allison, she’s making great strides. Their relationship is unique and heartfelt, as anyone who has bonded with a wild animal can appreciate.
Their story is more than just one to tell; it’s one to treasure.
