Two clever dogs in Lakeville, Minnesota, gave the local police a story to remember by calling 911 sixteen times, causing a mix of confusion and laughter.
A Puzzle of Repeated Calls
The 911 team kept getting calls from one house.
All they could hear was barking. This happened over and over, sixteen times.
So, the police decided they had to check it out.
A Surprise for 911 Dispatchers
When the officers got to the house expecting an emergency, they found two excited dogs instead.
“It was just kind of weird. Usually, people come to the door. Seeing two dogs go hyper is not something I see all the time,” says Officer Emiles Bares from the Lakeville Police Department.
How It Happened
Inside the house, the officers found the source of the calls: a cell phone within reach of the dogs, set to make emergency calls only.
It seemed the dogs were playing around and accidentally called 911 by pressing the phone’s touchscreen.
A Playful Coincidence
The incident surprised the dogs’ owner, who had no idea his pets could figure out how to make calls.
After the events, the owner learned to keep his phone out of their reach.
The police officers and the whole town will certainly remember the day the dogs decided to get involved with technology.
Taking it Pawsitively
The dogs’ antics perfectly illustrate that playtime for pups doesn’t always mean chewing toys and fetch — sometimes, it involves a bit of technological mischief.
It’s a heartwarming thought that our dogs, in their pursuit of fun and attention, can inadvertently bring a whole community together with laughter and a sense of shared delight.
