In the sunny areas of the Gold Coast, a raven named Walter is showing the world just how close animals of different species can become. His life is not just touching—it shows the funny and surprising ways animals can act when they live with humans.
A Tough Start

Walter was discovered weak and starving after being abandoned by his raven family.
That’s when Lynette, a kind vet, stepped in to help. She looked after him day and night, feeding and helping him grow strong. Little did she know, Walter was starting to act more like her dogs than a bird.
A Special Friendship

Walter became friends with Lynette’s dogs, especially one named Mouse. They would lie in the sun together, play, and look out for each other. Their close bond was something special.
Walter started doing things that dogs do, like fetching, showing that he felt more like a part of their pack than a wild raven.
Home is Where the Heart Is

Lynette tried to let Walter go back into the wild, but he wouldn’t leave. He could fly around the property, but he always came back to the family.
For Walter, family and home mean more than just being with other ravens—it’s about the love and care he gets from Lynette and the dogs.
A Heartwarming Wake-Up Call

Every morning, without fail, Walter insists on greeting Lynette with pecks on her window or a private morning concert. His timely wake-up calls have a way of being endearing despite the early hour.
“Waking up to Walter has become a part of our routine. His tap-tap-tap is like a snooze button you can’t control, but who could stay annoyed at that face?” Lynette shares with a laugh.
Fowl Play

Walter’s antics range from amusing to downright naughty. He’s become quite the expert at sneaking away with snacks. He even has a talent for disappearing with Lynette’s belongings, which only adds to his mischievous reputation.
Lynette says, “If something goes missing, we know Walter’s likely behind it. But then he’ll come waddling up with a stone or a piece of wood, looking so proud, and you can’t help but forgive him.”
Walter Doesn’t Know He’s a Raven

Walter doesn’t seem to know or care about other ravens. He doesn’t talk to them and is much happier hanging out with the dogs. But, amusingly, he’s smart enough to know his limits with Lynette’s other dog, a stronger Kelpie Cross Husky, staying clear of any trouble.
Hopes for Walter’s Future

Lynette wishes that Walter could have his own raven family, but it seems he’s too attached to his life with her.
If he did start his own family, they’d probably all end up living together in Lynette’s yard, making noise outside her window every morning.
Walter’s story shows us how surprising and strong the love between animals and people can be. He might not fly with other ravens or fully become a dog, but his playful spirit shows that family is about who you care for and who cares for you.
