Polly, a senior cat with a lot of spirit, was waiting for someone to notice her and give her a loving home.
She was 15 years old, could not hear, and had been through a lot. But Sarah saw something special in Polly and knew she had to take her home.
From a Tough Past to a Loving Home
Before Sarah came into her life, Polly had a hard time. She lived in a place with too many cats and didn’t get the care she needed.
Polly was shy and quiet, and being deaf made things even harder for her. But everything changed when Sarah met her at the Patricia Ledoux Foundation.
A Second Chance
Sarah recalls seeing her that fateful day, “The moment I saw her, I knew she was the one.”
Despite Polly’s old age and health problems, Sarah saw a loving cat that deserved a happy life. She was ready to give Polly all the care and love she needed.
Polly’s Amazing Change
Living with Sarah, Polly started to show her true self. She began to explore and play like a young cat again.
Polly became confident and even took charge of the household as the main cat. Her unique “awoo, awoo” call surprised and delighted everyone.
Life with Polly
“People should know how great older pets can be,” says Sarah. They have so much love to give.
Sarah learned the best ways to care for a deaf cat like Polly. She made sure Polly saw her before she petted her so that Polly wouldn’t get scared.
Sarah says they still talk to Polly as if she can hear because they love her just like their younger cats.
The Boss of the House
Polly’s story is not just about her. When Sarah brought Elliot, another older cat, into the family, Polly and Elliot became close friends.
Polly looked after Elliot – cleaned him, and cuddled with him, showing that older cats can form strong bonds, too.
The Joy of Helping Older Cats
Sarah is getting ready for Polly’s third “gotcha day” with a party themed around Polly’s favorite snack, cheese.
Polly’s story shows us that all animals, no matter their age, can live happy lives after being adopted.
Sarah feels she has fulfilled her mission—to give Polly the love and a forever home she deserves. Polly’s later years are bright with love and happiness.
