Fred, an elderly cockatoo, has found a new lease on life after being rescued from a tough situation.
At 61 years old, he’s now living happily at The Shore Sanctuary, where he has rediscovered his love for singing.
A Rough Start
Fred’s life wasn’t always happy. After his owner died, he was left alone in a house full of other animals. He lived in a dirty cage, and one of his wings was gone.
The people at The Shore Sanctuary knew he needed help, so they brought him to a place where he could heal and feel safe.
A New Family
When Fred first got to the sanctuary, he was very quiet, which is common for birds that have had a hard life.
But the sanctuary is where he could be himself, and it didn’t take long for him to start making noise.
He began to bark like the dogs and soon started singing and dancing, showing his true personality.
Healing and Joy
With lots of love and care from the sanctuary, Fred has not only improved physically but also felt better inside.
He used to get scared when he saw a travel carrier because he thought he would have to leave his safe new home.
Now he knows he’s there to stay and shows his happiness by jumping into people’s laps for cuddles.
Brighter Days Ahead
Fred has some health issues, like a heart problem, but he’s full of life, and his caregivers, Ash and Alex, are doing everything they can to keep him healthy and joyful.
They want Fred to have the best life possible for as long as he can, filled with love and play.
Fred’s story shows us how care and kindness can change an animal’s life. He’s gone from being quiet and alone to being a joyful bird that loves to sing.
His story gives hope that with a little help, animals in need can find happiness, too.
