In a sad turn of events, a dog named Natalie was found trapped in a cage by a busy Florida road.
Left alone, without food or water, she looked out hopefully, waiting for someone to rescue her.
Roadside Rescue
Most people driving by might not have noticed the frightened dog in the cage, but fortunately, one person did and called the Humane Society of Tampa Bay for help.
Natalie was scared, avoiding the rescuers’ touch.
She then brightened up when her cage was opened, wagging her tail as if to say ‘thank you’ while being carried to safety.
She’s in Safe Hands
At the Humane Society of Tampa Bay Animal Hospital, Natalie was treated with kindness.
There, she was examined, bathed, and fed—luxuries she hadn’t enjoyed in quite some time.
“Despite the scars on Natalie and the fact that she was left all alone, she was so loving and happy,” says Regan Blessinger from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. “We could tell she was relieved she was now being taken care of.”
Embracing Her New Life
Natalie started to change from a timid dog into one who couldn’t wait to play and be petted by everyone.
She enjoyed lying in the sun, getting attention from the shelter staff, and looking for some friendly pals.
Finding a Forever Home
The sad story turned into a happy one when Natalie found a family to call her own after just a month in the shelter.
She was going to have a home where she could be loved and safe—a life filled with love and joy.
