Moe and Savvy are two raccoons who have started a new chapter at Arctic Fox Daily Wildlife Rescue.
Here, they’re on a journey to get healthy after being overweight for four years as illegal pets.
Like Small Bears
“They were just so big that the closest animal they resembled was a small bear,” says Kimberly DeFisher, the sanctuary’s owner.
Mo and Savvy were so heavy that climbing a stump was hard work.
Luckily, Kimberly is dedicated to helping them get better.
A Fresh Start
Kimberly changed their diet and gave them a place to live that lets them move around much more.
With lots of space and things to climb, Moe and Savvy are learning to be active again.
A Fun Fitness Journey
Every day, they try a little more, climbing up and down wooden ramps and platforms that resemble trees and places they would find outdoors.
They also have toys that make them think and move, which helps them do the things they naturally do, like looking for food and sorting out puzzles.
Having Fun and Getting Fit
“Being able to climb like they can now definitely is a big part of their weight loss journey,” Kimberly said.
The raccoons are now climbing and playing more, a sign they’re getting healthier.
Moe and Savvy are losing the extra weight and getting back their quickness and love for life as they play and move around their home.
Commitment to Care
At the heart of Moe and Savvy’s remarkable transformation is a deep dedication to improving animals’ lives.
Moe and Savvy’s successful journey isn’t just a win for them. It shows the incredible difference we can make in the lives of animals in need.
It reminds us that humans have the power to change the future for animals who cannot speak for themselves.
