In a quiet backyard, a woman named Borjana noticed a tiny, shy chipmunk she later named Charlie. Calling out to him softly every day, she slowly gained his trust.
Becoming Friends
They began with careful meetings and soon found a special connection—both had a matching beauty mark, hers on the left and his on the right.
These little synchronicities hinted at the special bond they would share.
Clever Charlie
Charlie was smart and could follow simple commands, like freezing and going when told.
When it came to peanuts, he would pause and look for the best way to grab them. You could tell he was trying to work out how to stuff more into his mouth, which was really funny to see.
But things changed when a new chipmunk showed up. It seems like Charlie can also show signs of jealousy.
Charlie Gets Upset
He looked like he was going to cry as he refused a peanut even though it was right in front of him.
“That’s so weird to see from a chipmunk. He would not take it. It’s just like, I can’t believe he did that to me, you know?” Borjona said.
Charlie didn’t want to share the attention and got visibly upset—something you wouldn’t expect from a wild chipmunk.
Later on, Charlie accepted the peanut that Borjana offered.
A Deep Bond

Charlie and Borjana’s relationship is not based on need but on a mutual desire for presence.
Borjana shared that Charlie would sometimes just sit with her, enjoying the peace of the garden even without any peanuts.
This shows that treating nature with respect, kindness, and patience can lead to friendships as strong as Charlie and Borjana have.
