Pennsylvania’s 597 research-grade mink records trace accessible banks as much as mink distribution. Reservoir coves at Pymatuning, marsh edges at Presque Isle, and wooded watercourses in Delaware Water Gap all give this native predator shoreline cover, while also giving observers a chance to see one moving between roots and rocks.
Records crest separately in March and July, not across a single continuous season. Shifts in shoreline cover and visitor activity can change detectability, so those months identify reporting highs for a year-round resident rather than periods of statewide abundance.
