New Hampshire has 179 American pygmy shrew records in the 2000–2026 window, all from GBIF and none from iNaturalist. July through September account for 169 of them, led by 72 in August; that concentration describes the records, not the size of the state’s population.
NatureServe ranks the species S5 (Secure) in New Hampshire. The Lakes Region, Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge, and Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge are the three places named in this overlay, while the absence of records in most winter and spring months is a gap in this dataset rather than evidence of seasonal absence.
