Evening bats carry a NatureServe S5 secure rank in South Carolina, and the record leans toward GBIF (58 of 75 records) over iNaturalist, suggesting survey work, not just casual sightings, documents much of what’s known about this colonial bat here.
June alone accounts for 26 of the 75 records, close to a third of the entire year’s total, tracking the maternity-colony season when females roost together to raise pups; the record falls to near-zero from October through December as the species becomes far less detectable heading into winter.
