Muskrats inhabit Delaware’s freshwater and brackish marshes, ponds, and slow creeks. Refuge impoundments at Bombay Hook and Prime Hook are strong viewing areas: scan emergent vegetation for a low-swimming animal, narrow V-shaped wake, or dome-shaped lodge.
They occur year-round, with records strongest from April through June. Early morning and evening offer the best chance of surface activity; observation totals emphasize accessible boardwalks and wildlife drives.
