Wild boar occupy Louisiana forests from Kisatchie to the Tensas and Atchafalaya bottomlands, where rooting can leave broad patches of churned soil. Those signs, muddy wallows, and cloven tracks are safer and more common finds than a close view of the animal.
Reports span every month, rising in March–April and again in October. Observe only from a distance: boar are powerful, unpredictable, and especially defensive when piglets are present.
