Feral swine use swamps, floodplains, pine forest, and agricultural edges across much of South Carolina. Congaree, Francis Marion, Santee, and Sumter records point to large tracts with water and dense cover. Rooted soil, wallows, and tracks are often easier to find than the wary animals themselves.
Records span the calendar and peak in April. This is an introduced, free-ranging animal, and the observation pattern should not be mistaken for either a complete distribution map or evidence of equal abundance across these public lands.
