Florida classifies the green monkey as introduced, and its 107 documented records almost certainly trace back to escaped or released animals rather than an expanding wild population. The state’s iNaturalist and GBIF totals, 107 and 80 records, are modest, consistent with a localized colony rather than a statewide presence.
Reports climb sharply in January, with 31 records, more than triple most other months; a smaller rise returns in December at 17. That midwinter pattern likely reflects observer effort as much as monkey activity, so it doesn’t confirm a true seasonal peak.
