Risso’s dolphin has only 34 documented records in Florida, all of them from GBIF’s stranding and survey data, with none posted through iNaturalist. That points to strandings and offshore surveys as the main source, not casual sightings from shore. It’s native to Florida waters, and NatureServe lists the state rank as SNR, meaning it hasn’t been formally assessed here.
February holds the highest monthly count at nine records, more than double most other months, with March next at five. With totals this small, that bump is easy to read too much into. It likely reflects a handful of stranding events more than a real seasonal push offshore.
