Wisconsin’s 37 Western Harvest Mouse records point to grassy wetland margins and open cover represented by Horicon, Necedah, and the Upper Mississippi refuge, but they do not form a dependable seasonal curve. Records are scattered through the year with a modest late-autumn rise, likely reflecting trapping schedules and detectability in thinning vegetation.
Only 3 records are from iNaturalist; the rest come through GBIF, and the species carries an S2 state rank. These are survey or specimen detections, not an abundance estimate, so trap placement and historical collecting can matter more to the map than differences in population density.
