Florida’s records for the Atlantic spotted dolphin add up to 70, with GBIF accounting for nearly all of them and iNaturalist contributing just 10 (some records appear in both). The species is treated as native to Florida’s waters, though there’s no NatureServe rank on file for the state.
March stands out with 12 recorded sightings, the highest of any month, while June and October also show smaller upticks. Offshore detection depends heavily on where boats and surveys happen to be, so this pattern likely tracks effort more than the dolphins’ real movements.
