The common squirrel monkey isn’t native to Florida. Its state records most likely reflect escaped or released pets rather than an established wild population. Only 14 records exist here in total, split between iNaturalist and GBIF, with the most recent from August 2023.
Reports cluster in January, with five records, and December, with four, out of the fourteen total. Sightings in other months are rare. With so few records and no sign of breeding, that pattern probably reflects when individual escapees were noticed rather than a real seasonal cycle.
