Pronghorn carry a NatureServe S3 vulnerable rank in Oklahoma, confined almost entirely to the shortgrass high plains and mesa country of the panhandle, a fraction of the range this species once covered across the Great Plains before fencing and agricultural conversion fragmented its open habitat. The record leans slightly toward iNaturalist (139 of 257 total records), suggesting casual sightings document this conspicuous grassland grazer about as often as survey data does.
April and May together account for 41 of the year’s monthly-tallied records, close to a sixth of the total, tracking peak spring fawning-season visibility, while October drops to just 1 record, likely reflecting reduced observer activity in the remote panhandle country pronghorn favor.
